Predictions and Improvements for the Future

I think the microwave oven will become faster and automatic to make it even easier so customers will be even happier.

I would make it less hazardous to your health, recyclable, and so that you could microwave multiple thing at once with different settings. This would make them safer for you and the environment. And more convenient.

Impacts of the Invention

Did you know that the microwave oven might be a cause of global warning? They're also not recyclable so they are bad for the environment.

It allowed people to cook food more quickly and easily.

What buisnesses did it impact?
  • metal industry
  • wire industry
  • appliance industry

Invention Information

The microwave oven was invented on October 8, 1945. It rapidly cooks food.

What had to be discovered/invented first?
  • electricity
  • metal
  • microwaves
  • gears

About the Inventor

Meet Dr. Percy LeBaron Spencer. He was born on July 9, 1894 in Howland, Maine. He died on September 8 in 1970. He lived in Howland, Maine. He worked for the Raytheon Corporation.

Do you want to know how the microwave oven was invented? Dr. Spencer was experimenting with microwaves, and happened to have a chocolate bar in his pocket. He was feeling a bit hungry, so he reached into his pocket to eat it. To his surprise, it was melted! He soon figured out that the microwaves had caused that to happen. Pretty cool, huh?
